At Sapphire Valley, the surroundings are idyllic - nature's very best as far as the eye can see. The activities are almost limitless. Or relax with inspirational walks through the lush forests, along the rippling Horsepasture River, around the golf course or to the placid lake's edge. The magnificent 18-hole Sapphire Mountain Golf Course spans the valley with vistas of incomparable beauty. The Club includes a full-service pro shop. Eight tennis courts (two lighted) and two all-weather courts offer lessons and clinics. The private beach on lovely Fairfield Lake is great for bass fishing. Canoe, paddleboat and fishing boat rentals are also available. During the winter months, Sapphire Valley Ski Area, located nearby, offers downhill skiing and snowboarding. Ski lessons and equipment rentals are also available. The recreation center welcomes you with an indoor pool, health spa, sauna, whirlpool and fitness equipment. Enjoy the jogging track, volleyball and soccer - even miniature golf. Sapphire Valley actually does have a genuine gem mine. Hunt for treasure and keep what you find! The resort community of Cashiers and the legendary High Hampton Inn is less than 3 miles to the west; the picturesque town of Highlands also sits approximately 11 miles west of Sapphire and offers an abundance of upscale restaurants, shops and performance theaters; and Brevard, famous for its music camp and summer programs as well as the fly-fishing Davison River, is a 30 minute drive northeast toward Asheville.
