While Oranjestad is the capital of Aruba, the island is comprised of six distinct neighborhoods, with the Marriott Aruba Ocean Club located in the Palm Beach area. The Palm Beach neighborhood is home to many of Aruba’s pristine beaches. One of them is Palm Beach, which is at the Marriott Aruba Ocean Club, complete with a restaurant located right on the beach that, naturally, specializes in seafood. Another popular on-site attraction is the Stellaris Casino, where you can try your island luck at a variety of gaming options.
A short sightseeing drive from the Marriott Aruba Ocean Club uncovers many of the island’s historical gems, among them the famous California Lighthouse on the northern point of the island in the Noord neighborhood. There’s also the Bushiribana Ruins, which stand as a reminder of Aruba’s gold mining past. When exploring the ruins, you’ll come across a pirate fortress and discover the history of the pirate invasion. In the Santa Cruz neighborhood, the Natural Bridge still beckons visitors even though the bridge lies in ruins.

No trip to Aruba is complete without a visit to the Quadiriki Caves in the Arikok National Park. Aruba was first settled by Caquetio Indians who fled from violent attacks on their Venezuelan homeland. Much of Aruba’s Indian ancestry can be found in the caves of Arikok National Park, as well as in the names of many of the island’s towns and landmarks. It is believed that Aruba takes its name from the Indian word for “shell” and “island.” In the caves, visitors will find cave paintings and intriguing coral formations.
Aruba is also known for its cultural attractions and top entertainment acts, many located in Oranjestad. The capital city is just minutes from the Marriott Aruba Ocean Club, which offers its guests a central location to all the wonders this gorgeous island has to offer.
